Home Screen
Widgets
Build a flexible dashboard from your cmdOS objects, live information, and custom content.
What are widgets?
Widgets are movable, resizable blocks on the cmdOS Home Screen. Each widget can surface an object, a filtered library, external information, or saved HTML without opening a separate page.
Widgets are stored per workspace and dashboard view.
How to create a widget
Enter edit mode
Open the Home Screen’s widget editing controls.
Choose a type
Select an object, external, or custom widget.
Place it
Add it to an available slot, then move or resize it.
Widget types
The current extension catalog contains thirteen widget types in three groups.
Widget customization
Customize each widget’s placement, size, title, and content without changing its underlying object.
- Move and resizeDrag widgets in edit mode and use small, medium, large, horizontal, vertical, or free sizing where supported.
- RenameClick the widget title while editing to give it a clearer name.
- Configure contentLibrary, time, session, and HTML widgets expose settings specific to their content.
- RemoveDelete a widget from its dashboard view without deleting the underlying object.
Filters
Notes, Links, Text Expanders, and Chat Agents use the same library controls.
AllShow every item from that library.
CustomSelect the exact items to include.
TagsMatch any or all selected tags.
Search can be enabled inside each library widget.
Sort supported libraries by saved order, title, or recent activity.
Practical setup
- Use a Quick Notes widget for one pinned note and a Notes widget when you need a searchable collection.
- Choose Custom when a widget should show a hand-picked set; choose Tags when membership should update automatically.
- Keep frequently used widgets near the top and use dashboard views to separate different contexts.
